Blackjack ABC's - Part Two

We carry on with our article on the abc's of Blackjack. In the last article we covered the basis of twenty-one, taking another card, standing and how to double down. In part two we'll discuss splitting, surrendering and insurance.

Split: if a player is dealt 2 cards of the same value (two 8's for instance) he may break them up to generate two different hands. If you decide to divide your hand you'll have to place a new bet equivalent to the initial bet.

Surrender: A few betting houses will allow gamblers to surrender the cards they have been given along with fifty percent of the initial wager they placed prior to the croupier checking his hand. As a rule it is essential to inquire with the dealer for clarification on the table rules or check the game rules area on the net betting house you are playing on.

Insurance: When the croupiers face up card is an Ace individuals have the chance to purchase insurance. You will lay half of the original bet before the dealer checks his cards; if the croupier has chemin de fer you'll win the insurance bet but still lose the initial bet. Sadly if the dealer doesn't have black jack the competitor loses the insurance. It's a risk but one that is absolutely worth it, if used as part of a clever tactic.

Once a gambler has stayed or gone bust by going over 21 the croupier will reveal his hand and will continue to deal themselves cards until one of the following elements has appeared: if they have surpassed seventeen, a croupier will not typically take another card because of the chance of going bust, if they have drawn 21 or if they have gone bust.
